Qualities in a Tutor

Thank you for your interest in joining our Tutorial Program as an instructor. Our program provides classes to homeschooling families for students ages 6-18, offering a diverse range of subjects at three levels: enrichment, elective, and core. We are committed to providing high-quality education in a supportive and enriching environment. To ensure the success of our program and the satisfaction of our students and families, we seek instructors who embody the following qualities:

  1. Alignment with Our Mission: Prospective instructors should align with the values and mission of our organization, including our commitment to providing exceptional education within a supportive community environment.
  2. Statement of Faith: All instructors must be able to sign our statement of faith, which reflects the core beliefs and values of our organization. This ensures that our instructional staff is aligned with our religious principles and can support our students in their spiritual development.
  3. Expertise and Qualifications: Instructors should possess expertise and qualifications relevant to the subjects they wish to teach. For elective and core classes, this may include specialized knowledge or experience in the subject matter, as well as any necessary certifications or qualifications. Enrichment class instructors should have a passion for their subject area and the ability to engage students through hands-on, activity-based learning.
  4. Professionalism: We expect instructors to always conduct themselves with professionalism, including punctuality, responsiveness to communication, and adherence to program policies and procedures.
  5. Character and Integrity: Instructors should demonstrate excellent character and integrity in their interactions with students, families, and colleagues. This includes honesty, respect, and a commitment to ethical conduct.
  6. Passion for Teaching: We seek instructors who are passionate about teaching and dedicated to helping students learn and grow. This includes the ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences, adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs, and foster a positive and supportive classroom environment.
  7. Classroom Management Skills: Instructors should have strong classroom management skills, including the ability to effectively manage student behavior, maintain a safe and orderly learning environment, and address any challenges or disruptions that may arise.
  8. Commitment to Student Success: Our instructors play a critical role in supporting student success and academic achievement. We seek individuals who are committed to helping students reach their full potential and who are willing to invest time and effort in supporting student learning and development.

We believe that by recruiting and retaining instructors who embody these qualities, we can provide an exceptional educational experience for our students and families. If you believe you meet these criteria and are interested in joining our team, we encourage you to apply for available instructor positions. Thank you for considering a role with our Tutorial Program.

Sincerely,

The Board of Redwoods Homeschool Community
